Bananarama Live in Portugal RTP Show September 2008
Bananarama Live at Portugal RTP Show "A Minha Geração". Everytime I see a new video, I think they seem always younger... ... aren't these plastic surgery miracles? I hope they don't change too much in the future or we should give them lollipops.

And here the 'Nanas in their gold periods, with a wonderful Stock, Aitken & Waterman production!

Pete Waterman about Simon Cowell
Mr Waterman, 61, the music mogul who discovered Kylie Minogue, appears in the Channel 4 series as a judge. He said that Simon Cowell was not amused and was refusing to take his calls.
...
"Simon doesn't have a sense of humour, we're best mates but he's fallen out with me" he said.
"I rang Simon so he could say, 'Your comedy acting is genius, Pete'. But it seems he doesn't think it's at all funny."
...Mr Waterman, who was a judge on Cowell's previous show Pop Idol, said he has never watched the X Factor and vowed not appear on a talent show again. ... [continue]

An article about Pete Waterman (Indipendent, 2002)
OK, Pete, how have you? "I always give everyone the same lecture: keep your feet on the ground, listen and work hard." Jason didn't listen, then? "He thought he knew all the answers. One hit and he thought his IQ had shot up 4,000 per cent. So many times an artist who has had a No 1 tells the story of how they got that No 1 and forgets to mention all the people that did it for them."
How, though, has Pete – who's been responsible for more than 200 hits over the years – stayed at the top for so long? It's something that quite perplexes me until we get on to one of his favourite hobbies, fishing. (His other is steam trains, of which he owns several.) I ask if he's one of those fishermen who throws the catch back. He says he is. I say I've never understood that. I say, isn't it like going shopping, finding exactly what you want, and then not buying it?
"To me fishing is about the prowess of being able to catch a fish," he says. "It's about taking on nature, it's about being able to out-fool a fish, which is a wily animal at the best of times. It's not as people think. It takes skill. Your fly or maggot has to be there naturally. Yeah, you can chuck a worm in and catch a fish, but that's luck. It's about going out to catch the fish you want with the right bait." [continue]

80s Eurovision popstar Sonia is relaunched
...The diminutive Liverpudlian became the first British woman to have five top 20 hits with singles taken from a debut album. However, her career began to slide after she left record producers Stock, Aitken and Waterman because of “creative tensions”.
In 2003 she took part in the reality TV show Reborn in the USA but was voted off in the fifth week.
Fool for Love is being released by Energise Records and will also appear on a compilation album, written by Mr Power and featuring several divas from the 1980s.

Together Forever by Richard Burnett
..Samantha Fox and Astley are best remembered as bubblegum chart-toppers from London's Stock Aitken Waterman (SAW) assembly line that gave us such acts as Bananarama and Dead Or Alive. But neither Fox nor Astley have fond memories of the production trio. "I think they'd like to think of themselves as [Motown's] Holland-Dozier-Holland," Astley quips. "They had the same ethos, the same ideas, but they just didn't have the artists." Says Fox, "At the beginning I was a bit miffed because they didn't get rock songs. SAW have no guitars, no guitar solos. Then I did pop songs. I did I Always Wanna Be With You but it was cheesy. Working for SAW was like working in a factory." ... [continue]
