About Mel & Kim Appleby

In 1987, the Stock/Aitken/Waterman ‘Hit Factory’ was cementing its domination of the pop scene. The most vibrant sister act their PWL studio worked with was... not The Reynolds’ Girls but the vivaciously fizzy Mel and Kim Appleby, whose debut FLM (Cherry Red) is enjoyably reissued. Londoners Mel And Kim took their cues from US rare groove and Italo disco, and unlike most PWL acts... [read the full article]

GMTV Rick Astley Interview

How rich is Kylie Minogue?

I don't like very much an article about money, but this article is also about her story, so I decided to link it.

At 42, and after more than two decades in the music business, the actress-turned-singer, still has the ability to generate mammoth ticket sales for her live concerts, a skill she is expected to demonstrate again with her latest European tour Aphrodite: Les Folies which kicks off in February 2011 in Denmark. Unchained melody - Robson & Jerome

Robson & Jerome were an English pop duo in the 1990s, featuring TV actors Robson Green and Jerome Flynn, who were best known for their British TV series Soldier Soldier.

One episode called for the duo to sing "Unchained Melody". Subsequently ITV was inundated by people looking to buy the song, and the pair were persuaded by Simon Cowell to release it as a single. Simon Cowell enlisted top music producers Mike Stock and Matt Aitken, with whom he had worked many times, to produce the single. It stayed at No.1 for 7 weeks in UK Chart, selling more than a million copies and making it the best-selling single of the year.

Subsequently they had two further #1 singles produced by Mike Stock and Matt Aitken and two #1 albums.

When Kylie Minogue sacked her mum - Friday Night with Jonathan Ross - BBC One

Kylie Minogue | Get Outta My Way (BBC - Radio 1 - Live Lounge)

A wonderful Kylie performance.

Johnna - In My Dreams

I remember this song, I bought it in 1996 when it was some time I didn't get news about Stock, Aitken & Waterman in Italy. I knew of their split and this song was produced by Pete Waterman only. I bought it but I didn't like it at all, it was completely different from the sound I had in my ears, the famous Stock, Aitken & Waterman "sound". This song seemed to me a lot easier to write. I understood what it meant that Mike Stock and Matt Aitken were gone from the PWL.

1996 single charting at #66 in the UK, from the album 'Pride'. Johnna was previously in Boy Krazy.

BOY KRAZY - ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IN STUDIO

They also talks about the group and Stock, Aitken & Waterman.

Saint Feat Stacey Barnes - After You're Gone (King & McQueen 80's Extended Mix)

A wonderful 80s version of this Stock, Aitken & Waterman production.
